TVS Akula 310 to launch in India in 2017
Snapshot: TVS Akula 310 is expected to be priced below Rs 2 lakh
The most powerful entry level sports bike from TVS Motor India, Akula 310 will soon be available in Indian two wheeler market. Brand new styling, newly developed engine and racing pedigree sit as the crux of this product. As per reports, this 300cc motorcycle will be launched by early 2017 as confirmed by Mr K.N. Radhakrishnan, President and CEO, TVS Motor to economictimes. When launched, the new Akula310 will compete against the likes of KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Benelli TNT 300, Yamaha R3 and the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar CS 400.
The motorcycle has already created lots of buzzes when it was showcased at the recently held Auto Expo 2016. Though the concept revealed at the event had used carbon fibre body all over, it is widely believed that it will shed its carbon fibre to keep the production cost at the minimum. This fully faired motorcycle will come with notable features such as trellis frame, an aluminium sub-frame, upside-down front forks, gill-vents for thermal efficiency, Ram air induction, split seats, clip-on handlebars, LED tail-lights, lightweight aluminium components, wider tyre, dual disc brakes with ABS and a completely digital instrumental console.
The new TVS Akula 310 is expected to be powered by the same 313cc, water-cooled, single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, four valves motor as seen on the BMW G 310 R that is scheduled to launch in India by initial month of 2017. The mill is expected to generate 34 hp of power and 28 Nm of torque, and will be mated to Constant-mesh 6-speed transmission integrated into the motor housing.
