All new set of spy-shots shared by an Indonesian publication known as Otomotifnet have finally shown us how the upcoming TVS Apache 200's LED DRL's will look like in full glory at night, and we reckon they would be among the best looking ones in the market when the bike is launched in India. The shared pictures also shows the motorcycles headlamp design that contains a multifocal lens arrangement with a halogen bulb, the bikes fuel tank cap and also the all digital meter console which is backlit by white light.
Expected to be launched around January end, the bike will be the center of attraction at the TVS stall of the 2016 AutoExpo. The pricing should hover around the same mark where the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS (and the upcoming 200NS FI) and the Bajaj Pulsar AS200 exist and should be a true competition to Bajaj's dominance in the segment. Though it should also want to take some of the customers away from the hugely successful KTM Duke 200, however, these two play in two very different price brackets.
Giving a closer look to the headlamp design, it is clear that the designers at TVS had wanted a connection to be felt with the current crop of Apache's in the market with the headlamp reminding strongly of current designs. It seems more and more likely that the Apache 200 will be based very slightly to the Draken concept, while being more of an evolutionary design as compared to a all new design direction. This is something, we will be giving a closer attention to in coming days since, it will be interesting to know, what would be the destiny of the X21 Draken, which we all loved so very much at the 2014 AutoExpo.
Interestingly, the Apache 200 more or else (up to now) seems to borrow design and component idea from both, the current generation Apache's and the X21 Draken concept, however, the resemblance is stronger with the current crop. However, it is almost certain that the engine is an all new exercise and should bring the next generation of engine structure for TVS power commuters. The unit is said to be around 200cc, and is a single cyclinder benefitting with oil cooling aiding the air cooled design, thus meaning a decent power output from an air cooled lump. Also, the bike should arrive with a power output of around 28ps and 20nm of torque from its SOHC arrangement.
Stay tuned for more updates regarding the same! Ride Safe!
