The popular Indian motorcycle manufacturer - TVS has finally launched the Ethanol variant of Apache RTR 200 4V that is known as TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. With a price tag of INR 1.20 lakh, the bike costs INR 9,000 more than the Apache RTR 200 4V. The bike will be available exclusively in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Primarily made its appearance on the Auto Expo 2018, the RTR 200 Fi E100 is majorly the same, apart from the fuel usage.
Ethanol fuel is produced through the sugar fermentation process. The sugar sources are produced from the ‘energy crops’, which includes maize, wheat and corn crops that are well-grown in India.
As Ethanol is biodegradable as well as low toxic so the Apache are not electric, the consequences of Ethanol combustion are way too lesser as compared to the burning of fossil fuels. Adapting these ethanol-powered motorcycles will minimize the expensive cost of importing fossil fuels.
Talking of the TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 specs, it comes with a 197cc single-cylinder engine that produces 21hp@8500 rpm and a torque of 18.1Nm@7000 rpm. As per the bike maker, the Ethanol price is 62% lesser than petrol and the running cost is same as of Apache petrol-based variant.
During the launch, Chairman of TVS Motor Company, Venu Srinivasan said that we believe that products based on Ethanol are a great option for the customers. These products have good transition compatibility and positive impact over the environment with no comprise on cost ownership and performance. The TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 will surely be a breakthrough in the market and set the green trend in the country in the near future.
