TVS has displayed a host of models at the on-going Auto Expo 2018 including some interesting concepts and models. One of the prominent unveilings at the TVS’ pavilion at the 14th Auto Expo was its Ethanol powered TVS Apache RTR 200 4V FI.
In terms of looks, the bike looks largely same as its conventional version, save for the ethanol badge on the fuel tank, that sets both the versions apart. With the government pushing two-wheeler manufacturers for introducing ethanol powered vehicles, TVS’ ethanol powered Apache could turn out to be a crucial model for the company. The model seemed production ready and TVS could plan to launch it in near future if the regulations change.
Power on the TVS Apache RTR200 Fi Ethanol is derived from a similar 200cc single-cylinder motor that has been tuned to produce 20.7bhp at 8,500rpm along with peak torque 18.1Nm at 7000rpm. It additionally comes with an electronic fuel injection with twin-spray-twin-port system for an improved power delivery and at the same time reduces carbon as well as gas emission.
With the adoption of ethanol, not only the import cost on fuels will reduce, but it will also encourage the agriculture sector in India as ethanol is domestically produced from plant sources. At this year’s Auto Expo, TVS showcased a slew of models at its pavilion including the Creon electric scooter concept that clinched all the limelight. Besides, it also showcased the Zeppelin cruiser and offered several interactive sessions to indulge enthusiasts.
