TVS says Game On, launching Apache 200 in India on January 20th!

Snapshot: Finally TVS has declared the launch date of the hugely awaited Apache 200!!

Finally the dates for the launch of the hugely awaited and talked about TVS Apache has been declared and the latest and the biggest Apache yet will be launched on January 20th, 2016 and then it will be showcased at 2016AutoExpo where it should be the centre of attraction pulling crowds to the TVS stall.

To be powered by an all new engine developed by TVS motor's, the Apache 200 is expected to have a single cyclinder (around) 200cc engine that will be an air cooled engine combined with oil cooling for better heat dissipation.  The power unit is said to produce power in the range of around 28Ps and a peak torque is aid to hover around the 20Nm mark and if these figures come out to be true, then the Apache 200 should prove to be a formidable opponent to the likes of the Pulsar 200NS (upcoming 200NS FI), the Pulsar AS200 and even the Duke 200 from KTM. However, TVS might still use a 5-Speed transmission to do duty on the upcoming sport naked.

Rumours also suggest that Apache is being designed to be a machine that should accelerate quicker than its main competition, the KTM Duke 200. However, the TVS offering is expected to be priced closer  but slightly above the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS and the Pulsar AS200 meaning a price tag of around just over 1 lakh ex showroom. The bike is also expected to arrive with at two variants where one will be a standard affair while the other will be with an ABS installed for enhanced safety.

There were test mules also wearing Pirelli tyres but in all probability the Apache 200 will wear the premium rubber for export markets only. However, it would be a shame if the Indian consumer lose out on this. The Bike is loosely based on the X21 Draken concept previewed at the 2014 AutoExpo with the rear panel getting most of the design cues from the famous concept. However, almost all of the rest of the design seems to me more of evolutionary than revolutionary for the Apache 200.

The bike will feature a newly designed LED DRL's which definitely look catching, and a headlamp design reminiscent of the current Apache's while the all digital instrument console is white backlit.
