Seeing the growing demand for off-road focused bikes, two-wheeler makers are readying their motorcycles to launch in the Indian market. In fact, testing of several off-road bikes including Benelli TRK 502 X, RE Classic 500 Scrambler, Yamaha XTZ 125 and KTM 390 Adventure have already been started on Indian roads. Hero MotoCorp will soon launch 2 new bikes - XPulse and XPulse 200T in the first half of 2019. UM Motorcycles will soon enter into this growing off-road segment.
In fact, images of the entry-level adventure motorcycle have been leaked on the internet. The new entry-level bike will be called the UM DSR Adventure 200 ABS and is reportedly to be priced around Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The technical specifications and features of the new motorcycle have also been leaked.
The UM DSR Adventure 200 ABS will have a tall-stance and sport features in-line with adventure motorcycles like Romet ADV 125FI Pro. The motorcycle will also have panniers and a top-box. It is expected that UM could re-badge Romet with a larger engine in India. There is a possibility that UM and Romet will jointly develop the new motorcycles for Indian market.
The UM DSR Adventure 200 ABS will be powered by a 196cc, air-cooled, 2-valve, carburetted, single-cylinder engine. This powertrain is capable of producing 16bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 16Nm at 6,500rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle comes with 780mm seat height, which is comparatively low for an adventure bike. It features a 14-litre fuel-tank capacity. The motorcycle gets disc brakes at both ends, which are further assisted by a single-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres.
The representational images of the bike was leaked during a presentation slide, which also reveals that the bike will come in 4 paint schemes - Olive Green, Midnight Black, Brick Red and Octane Blue. Upon its launch, the UM DSR Adventure 200 ABS will rival the likes of upcoming Hero XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T.
