UM Motorcycle is gearing up to commence delivery of the Duty 230 cruiser in India in September 2018. This is going to be the most affordable cruiser of the brand in the country. The motorcycle was launched at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in two different variants that were Duty S and Duty Ace. Pricing of the UM Duty 230 variants too were announced. The Duty S comes priced at Rs 1.10 lakh and Duty Ace is priced at Rs 1.29 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
UM Motorcycles is aiming to expand its product lineup and market share in coming months and the Duty 230 is expected to play key role in that strategy. But, before the motorcycle maker starts delivery of the UM Duty 230, it will launch two more new models under the Renegade badge.
UM plans to launch some new products in the Indian market by 2020 that will sit in the 450 cc and 650 cc category. It is also emphasizing on local production of the motorcycles to achieve competitive pricing. For that, the brand is planning to set up a new production facility in Hyderabad which is expected to be operation by February 2019 and it will have a production capacity of 50,000 units per annum.
Speaking about the powertrain, both the variants of the UM Duty 230 draws energy from a 223 cc engine that churns out 17 bhp of peak power and 17 Nm of peak torque. The UM Duty 230 cruiser will challenge the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
