As reported earlier, the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani and the special 70th Anniversary edition of scooters in India were scheduled to launch on October 25, 2016. However, the Italian manufacturer has now postponed the launch of both the scooters. They are now expected to launch in the early weeks of November.
The 946 Emporio edition will be an exclusive model and will hit Indian shores via CBU (completely built unit) route. The design of the Armani edition will be inspired from Vespa’s scooters of 1946. However, the 70th edition scooter is likely to be one of the existing scooters from the company with some custom paint jobs and designs.
The Emporio Armani edition is expected to be priced around INR 8.0 lakh, and would be available in very limited numbers. The scooter would be powered by, a 4-stroke 125cc 3-valve single cylinder engine. The scooter can churn out maximum 11.7hp at 8250 rpm of peak power and a peak torque of 10.3Nm torque at 7000rpm. The Armani edition is equipped with some exclusive features such as LED headlamps and LED tail lamps with LCD instrument panel and ABS, traction control system, Anti Slip Regulator and disc brakes both in front and rear for added safety.
The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani was first showcased in India at the Auto Expo 2016. Based on the older Vespa 946, this limited edition Vespa was jointly developed by Giorgio Armani and Piaggio to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Giorgio Armani foundation and the 130th birthday of the Italian scooter brand Piaggio.
