After previewing the Elettrica e-scooter at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle, the Italian auto giant showcased the electric scooter at the Auto Expo 2018. The e-scooter gets an electric motor with continuous power of 2.6bhp along with 5.2bhp of top power output. In addition, it gets a 4.2kWh Lithium-ion battery with 1,000charging cycles. According to the company, the Elettrica e-scooter can deliver an imposing performance, as good as a 50cc scooter, especially in terms of initial acceleration.
The Vespa Elettrica will be available in two variants, including the standard and Electtrica X version. As for the range, the standard version will deliver a riding range of 100km, opposed to the Elettrica X which is claimed to offer 200km range. In addition, the e-scooter comes with two riding modes-Eco and Power.
The top speed on the Eco mode is restricted to 30km/h and the Power mode on the Vespa Elettrica offers full acceleration. It additionally gets a reverse mode. In terms of styling and design, it has a retro-look, and comes equipped with advanced tech. That said, it combines the best of both the worlds, classic design and advanced features.
The e-scooter also packs a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster with connectivity options, LED headlamp, USB socket, under seat storage, 12-inch front wheel and 11-inch rear wheel. Piaggio will manufacture the model at its manufacturing facility in Italy and is likely to be introduced in European markets sometime this year.
