The iconic Italian two-wheeler maker, Piaggio wooed the Indian audience by introducing the Aprilia SR 150 recently. Now Piaggio is planning to bring in the majestic Vespa GTS 300 to the country’s shores. The scooter was showcased at this year’s Autoexpo back in February and is currently under homologation process. The scooter will be among one of the most premium scooters available in the country and is certainly not a mass targeted product. The company will be bring the same via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route instead of the CKD (Completely Knocked Down).
It houses a liquid-cooled, four-valve electronic fuel injected, 278cc engine that is mated to a CVT transmission. The engine delivers 22.1bhp of maximum power and peak torque of 22Nm. Unlike other scooters, the GTS 300 can well cross the barrier of 100kmph and does a maximum of 122kmph when fully pinned down. It comes with dual-shock absorbers at the rear and a retro-styled bottom-link type suspension unit up front. It also comes equipped with ABS and when launched we expect it to be priced beyond the Rs 3 Lakh mark. Stay tuned for more updates!
