“Yes, yes,” said ecstatic Sebastian Vettel as he won his debut race for Ferrari “Ferrari is back! Grazie, grazie.” The words are enough to describe what Vettel felt after winning the Malaysian GP fair and square against both the Mercedes team mates. Not only did the four-time world champion made a comeback, but also Ferrari, who last won a race in 2013 with Fernando Alonso.

"I'm speechless. I'm incredibly happy and we beat them fair and square. I think today is a very special day and will always remain a part of me. It's bloody hot though!" said an emotional Vettel. “There are plenty of positives. We beat them fair and square. Today was a very special day and will always remain part of me,” he added.

Last year's and season opener winner, Lewis Hamilton came a distant second to the German, finishing the race 8.5 seconds later followed by his team mate and German Nico Rosberg who came further 3.8 seconds later. Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth after finishing a first lap puncture followed by both the Williams' drivers Valtteri Bottas at fifth and Felipe Massa in sixth.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen became the youngest driver to score points in F1 history after he came seventh racing for Torro Rosso. He was closely followed by his team mate Carlos Sainz, who finished eighth. The top 10 of the driver's chart was completed by Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo of Read Bull who finished ninth and tenth respectively.

On the driver standings now, the win brings Vettel closer to Hamilton and the difference remains only 3 points after 2 races. While Hamilton leads the table with 43 points, Vettel sits next to him at 40, followed by Mercedes' Nico Rosberg at 33. On the constructors' table, Mercedes leads with 76 points, followed by Ferrari at 52 and Williams' at 30.
