Victory Motorcycles, a subsidiary of Polaris, has announced an entry for the electric race at this year’s Isle Of Man Tourist Trophy (IOM TT 2015). The company will be fielding two electric prototypes, with William Dunlop and Lee Johnston piloting them.
This, Victory Motorcycles’ first entry in professional racing in Europe and that too with an electric entrant, comes a few months after parent company Polaris’ acquisition in electric bike-maker Brammo. With that set, the resemblance of the prototype with Brammo Empulse RR shouldn’t be worrisome, either. As for the event, the TT Zero (SES TT Zero Challenge) is essentially a one lap race around Isle Of Man’s 37.3 mile-long Mountain Course. The race is on Wednesday, June 10, and will also include big names like John McGuinness riding Team Mugen’s electric superbike.
Final specifications aren’t announced yet, but Victory’s prototype bikes will use an electric powertrain provided by Parker Hannifin. Talking of which, going electric seems to be the right way forward especially with competitor Harley Davidson taking it very seriously, too.
