Victory Motorcycles TT Zero Entry details have surfaced!
Snapshot: Victory is dead serious for making it big at the TT Zero this year!!!
Just yesterday we showed how Victory is planning to participate at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a thoroughly souped up Indian Scout engine and infact we have been talking about for some time now about how Victory has shown serious intent of racing their entry at the IOMTT Zero electric race with their recently acquired electric bike firm, Brammo's race bike. However, it is such a beautifully ironic thing that an American motorcycle manufacturer and that too an essentially cruiser based portfolio one, has decided to participate in the world toughest race with an electric racing bike entry, but yes, we admire Victory for breaking up a few moulds.
It has been well talked about already that the Victory's entry for TT Zero will be based on the Brammo Empulse RR and it is being said that Brammo has done extensive work on the bike for this year's TT. Some of the improvements that are being talked about are the addition of a new motor to the bike supplied by its partner Parker, and is being claimed that they had optimized power delivery and efficiency by placing new windings in the Brammo motor. All this translates to a drop on horsepower from the Brammo-spec machines original 173hp to 150hp, however, the peak torque remains at an incredible 220Nm. This means that Victory has gone for reduction in power to get a substantial rise in the systems overall efficiency, thus providing the best possible design for the Empulse RR to achieve the fastest possible lap around the 37.73 mile TT circuit.
Alongwith the change in the systems power output and rise in its efficiency, the next big addition to the Empulse RR is in its battery capacity which has been extended by 20% as per reports, but, it could mean an increase in the weight of the race bike as well. To be designed specifically to deal with the stress the iconic TT circuit can throw to a bike, it being a street circuit afterall.
Needless to say, all the go fast modifications sing a rhyme to the Aerodynamics god and the Victory has done some rework on the Empulse RR to make it go faster than before. A new carbon fiber tail unit has been incorporated in the design and is both lighter and more aerodynamic than its predecessor. The same goes for the front as it is more slippery than the present one, however, all the aerodynamic upgrades done to the race bike are yet to be disclosed by Brammo.
This year's TT Zero promises to be a thrilling event with such dedication from Victory as they gun for a podium finish, however, going against the big boys of the segment, the Team Mugen will be a tough ask for the American company.
