Volkswagen, the renowned German automajor, has taken the wraps off its new Touran MPV. The new MPV would go on sale from September in Europe and by the end of 2015, it would be available to order in various other international markets. New Volkswagen Touran is more advanced, economical and contemporary than the preceding model. Furthermore, the new Touran in the first MPV to be based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB).
2015 Volkswagen Touran MPV is bigger than its previous iteration as the length and wheelbase have been extended by 130 mm and 113 mm, respectively. The MPV would be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater seating configurations. The boot space has also been enhanced by 48 litre in the 5-seater version of the MPV. It has best-in-class boot space of 1040 litre when the 3rd row seats are folded. Surprisingly, despite the expansion, it has shed weight around 62kgs.
Newly developed fold-flat seat system in 5-seater or 7-seater Touran MPV is highly versatile and extremely easy to configure. It also features 47 storage compartments and a new Pure Air Climatronic system. In addition, advanced infotainment systems with MirrorLink™, CarPlay (Apple) and Android Auto (Google) make it one of the most technologically advanced MPV.
New Volkswagen Touran is available with a total of 6 powertrains: 3 TSI engines with petrol trim and 3 TDI motors with diesel guise. The petrol mills include a 1.2L TSI engine, 1.4L TSI engine, and 1.8L TSI with power figures of 109bhp, 147bhp and 177bhp, respectively. All the engines are 4-cylinder direct injection engines with turbocharging and feature are up to 19 per cent more economical. All the engines are combined with an automatic dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). On the other hand, the diesel engine options are 1.6L TDI with 108bhp, 2.0L TDI with 147bhp, and 2.0L TDI with 188bhp of top powers, respectively.
