Suzuki recently showcased their only SUV, the Grand Vitara at the 2015 Paris Motor Show. Suzuki announced that the new Vitara will be built at the company's manufacturing facility in Hungary and sales will start from Europe, not before the mid 2015. Although the dates for the Indian launch are not confirmed, but rumors are that it will debut in 2018 in India. That is a 3 years of long wait after the European launch.
The new video is shot in various terrains including the gravel, tarmac and other severe conditions. The colors are also shown with almost 9 colors visible, along with the interiors. The SUV gets the standard 3 spoke steering wheel as can be seen in almost all the vehicles of Suzuki. Also shown is an AWD system of the Vitara, having a superior grip, to keep the SUV on the road. The proportions are compact and the roof will be all black in every shade.
The engines available will be a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a recently developed 1.6-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine will churn a power output of 120 BHP and a maximum torque of 156Nm. The petrol engine is available with a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will produce the same 120 BHP of power, but will get a much chunkier 320Nm of torque. The diesel engine comes mated with a five-speed manual gearbox only. Both the variants will come equipped with a new ALLGRIP all wheel drive system.
Suzuki is also in the process of launching the S-Cross, latest SUV, which has been caught testing in India too, many times. The new Vitara being a compact SUV, will be placed under the S-Cross, under the Suzuki's product hierachy.
