One of the many optional goodies set to be offered by Mercedes-Benz on the all-new E-Class mid-size premium model is going to be a remote parking technology by using a smartphone app which will enable full control to make the car go forwards and backwards into a tight parking space and also remotely steer the vehicle in order to avoid hitting various objects, such as the items usually stored in a garage.
There is more to the 2016 E-Class than this fancy technology as the new generation will also inaugurate the company’s most recent LED headlights which will have 84 individual lighting units. This hardware arrangement will enable optimal lighting precision and at the same time the light will not dazzle incoming drivers.
Also expect to find a plethora of sensors (radar and ultrasonic), along with a front-facing stereo camera as well as side and rear cameras to grant a 360-degree view of the car which will allow the driver to see what is going on around the vehicle. Moreover, there is going to be a “next level Intelligent Drive” system which will maintain the car at all times at a correct distance from the vehicle in front and will also be able to follow them up to a top speed of 200 kmph. This sophisticated system will also provide autonomous acceleration, braking and steering while the intelligent cruise control and the on-board cameras will read the speed limit signs and adjust the speed accordingly.
The India-bound 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is also going to come with a system called Active Brake Assist which will alert the driver in case of an imminent crash while automatically applying the brakes to lower the force of the impact. In addition, there will be an Evasive Steering Assist system which will automatically modify the car’s steering to lower the risks of hitting a pedestrian.
Lastly, the mid-size premium model from Daimler will also have a new type of passenger front seat with inflatable side bolsters which will push the passenger to the car’s center whenever an imminent (and unavoidable) crash is detected.
The new E-Class will go on sale in Europe in the second half of next year so chances are it will reach Indian dealerships sometime in 2017.
