The biggest and the most successful name ever in the Indian automotive industry under the MUV category will be the Toyota Innova, and we have no doubt about that. And it seems like Toyota is ready to give a makeover to this successful as suggested by a video, uploaded by a YouTube user. The car can be seen testing clearly in a fully camouflaged avatar.
Though, heavily camouflaged, certain design elements can be easily seen. The most visible and new addition is the LED daytime running lights that can be spotted easily near the headlights and grille. The front bumper will be larger and wider and will house projector style headlamps. The rear will also get a reworked tail light as well as the redesigned bumper. The third row sitting will get more space as can be seen from the tailgate.
Based on the Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the 2016 Innova will continue to come with ladder-frame chassis. The talking point, though, will be the Automatic gearbox, a first or Innova, which is said to be attached to the new Diesel engine, Innova will get. Currently, Innova comes with a 2.0 litre petrol unit and a 2.5 litre turbocharged intercooled diesel unit.
The MPV market has of late seen many entrants like the Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga and Nissan Evalia, but none has been able to match the dominance of this Japanese brand. The expected price could be in the same range of outgoing Innova while the launch date could be as early as 2016.
