Honda has started testing the new generation Civic sedan in India and the car was spied for the first time. The Honda Civic is slated to launch in February 2019 and the Japanese carmaker is aiming to bring the new Civic as CKD and assemble it locally at the Greater Noida Plant. Recently, the current generation received an update and it is this new updated version that will make its launch in India.

Exterior wise, the 2019 Honda Civic sedan version seems similar to its predecessor, except some minor tweaks that have been done on the new one like the black gloss finishing on the grille strip, redesigned bumper, and a noticeable front diffuser and chrome accent around the fog lamps, while at the rear, it gets a chrome accent on the bumper. The new Civic sedan also gets 2 new colour options - Molten Lava Pearl and Platinum White Pearl. On the inside, expect it come with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the bonnet, the 2019 Honda Civic sedan would draw its power from a 1.6-litre Earth Dreams diesel engine and a 1.8-litre petrol i-VTEC unit. The diesel engine makes 118 bhp of maximum power with 300 Nm of top torque; on the contrary, the petrol engine will boast a maximum power of 140 bhp with 174 Nm of peak torque. For the transmission, expect the petrol version to come paired with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission, while for the diesel variant, a 6-speed manual gearbox sounds more sensible offering, unlike the new CR-V that gets a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic, as the brand also need to keep the price in check.
