Audi has unveiled the facelifted version of the A3 and S3 line-up including the A3 sedan, A3 Cabriolet, and the S3 Wagon. Unveiled in Germany, the facelifted model will be launched in the rest of Europe in the coming days, followed by the U.S launch followed by other markets. The A3 sedan is the most budget friendly Audi available in the market worldwide.
Talking about the looks first, all the three models are instantly recognizable and bears the same design as the outgoing model. The changes on the outside include a new front fascia with a revised grille and a set of new Xenon plus headlights. Modestly revised taillights and a new rear diffuser makes the back look distinctively good. And then you get an extended palette of colors and optional matrix LED headlights.
As for the interiors, the cabin design is almost similar apart from a few changes like the new three-spoke steering wheel and an upgraded MMI system. The infotainment system now gets simplified menu and enhanced voice control knobs. An optional Audi virtual cockpit system with a 12.3-inch TFT display is available. Also, the A3 is equipped with a new traffic jam assist system which drives the car at 40 kmph and one can also order and improved active lane assist system.
As for the mechanicals, a variety of engine options will be available including:
- New 1.0-litre TFSI 3-cylinder engine with 115 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque
- 1.4-litre TFSI engine with 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque
- New 2.0-litre engine TFSI with 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque
- 1.6-litre TDI engine with 110 hp output
- 2.0-litre TDI engine with 150 hp and 340 Nm of torque
- 2.0-litre TDI engine with 184 hp and 380 Nm of torque
The new Audi A3 will also be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the customers looking for something more eco-friendly. The A3 Sportback e-tron will come with a 1.4-litre TFSI engine, an electric motor, and an 8.8 kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery. This whole setup produces a combined output of 204 hp. There's also natural gas A3 called the A3 Sportback g-tron and features a 1.4-litre TFSI bi-fuel engine which develops 110 hp.
Lastly, the facelifted S3 will get an upgraded 2.0-litre TFSI engine that produces 310 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The new A3 and S3 lineup will be available on sale from the next month onwards with the deliveries expected to start from this summer.
