Who doesn’t love to drive fast cars, gunning the pedal and listening to the roaring throttle, giving you an adrenaline rush like no other sports can do. And more importantly, driving a sportscar or a supercar around a proper race track with smooth roads, proper curves, and no traffic will make your stint in the car a memorable experience.
Let’s cut the chase here and tell you why exactly are we so ecstatic about driving a sportscar around a track. Well, Audi's new driving school offers exactly the same feeling we were talking about, but sadly in America. Audi has announced the Audi Driving Experience at the Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas, which is the only F1 track in the U.S and is also the home of the United States Grand Prix F1 race.
The German luxury car manufacturer offers four different programs giving you an option to alter the length, intensity, and cost, but most importantly, the cars. The Audi Drive Experience will feature some of the Audi's best vehicles including the RS3, TT RS, and the R8 V10 Plus. Yes, an Audi R8 V10 Plus, the fastest Audi ever. We wonder who will select the other two cars, not that they are bad. But Audi R8 is a different league altogether.
“Circuit of The Americas is proud to announce the brand new COTA Driving Experience Program launching this summer! We invite you to escape reality and experience the ultimate thrill of being a professional racecar driver for a day. With an endless amount of opportunities, let our team customize the experience of a lifetime for you at the one and only Formula One Circuit in the United States,” read a statement by COTA.
Talking of the programs, two programs are half-day, teaching some of the basics of high-performance driving. The first of them is called the "Dynamic Experience" and it covers things like emergency handling and braking. This is the basic course and is taught in the paddock area rather than on the actual track. The program will only feature the RS3 and TT RS and is most affordable at $595.
The other half-day program is the "Track Initiation," and along with the paddocks, it also takes place on the track of the Americas. The fun part is, this course adds the R8 to the car roaster and costs $995, $400 more than the basic course. There are two more programs, which are longer. The "R8 Track Initiation" program is a full day program and focuses on learning the course one section at a time.
It is followed by driving the full course on the track and features all three cars, costing a significant $2,195. The last is the “R8 Pro Track Initiation" program, with one-day program and two-day course. The track teaches how to handle R8 like a pro like the famous Scandinavian Flick for inducing oversteer. This program costs a whopping $4,995, and you have to have completed the regular R8 Track Initiation course.
