Despite being fully revealed by a scale model almost a month ago, the Bentley Bentayga is back in yet another teaser video, this time showing the vehicle hitting a top speed of 301 kmph at an undisclosed high-speed testing facility. This will allow the Bentayga to be the fastest SUV ever made thanks to a newly developed W12 6.0-liter twin-turbo TSI engine which will also make it the most powerful model in its segment.
This new motor acts as a successor of the 6.3-liter W12 and initially it will develop 608 bhp and 900 Nm, but later on it will evolve with even more power on very high-end models part of the Volkswagen Group. As for the Bentayga, it will premiere next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show and from what we know so far it’s going to be based on the second generation Audi Q7, but with a more upscale exterior and interior cabin.
It’s programmed to go on sale early next year and will be joined in 2017 by a plug-in hybrid version, representing a first for a Bentley. Another novelty is the possibility of a turbodiesel engine, but we will have to wait for an official confirmation.
In terms of design, the exterior is a very welcomed evolution of the EXP 9 F concept which previewed the production model while the interior cabin will feature numerous high-end features like a touch-sensitive start/stop button, fully digital and customizable instrument cluster, along with a head-up display and a night vision system. Needless to say, the finest leathers and materials will wrap the Bentayga’s cabin which is set to feature individual rear seats to provide utmost comfort worthy of the hefty price tag.
An official online reveal is expected in the days to come, ahead of the model’s public debut at IAA next week in Frankfurt.
