What comes to your mind when we say Bentley? A British brand synonymous with making powerful and uber luxury sedans. What if we say they are planning to launch an SUV, which is currently undergoing tests in Europe? The immediate reaction would be - No, they can't build powerful and capable SUVs! Well, the British powerhouse just launched another teaser video for their upcoming SUV, suggesting, it is a capable SUV.
The upcoming SUV is rumored to be called the Falcon and that can very well be the design inspiration for the luxury SUV. The latest video clip is clearly aimed to shatter the perception that it will be just a super luxury SUV, not capable on rough terrains. In fact, the Bentely SUV is looking to produce an SUV, aimed to rattle the market of Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen.
The teaser gives a better idea as to what the SUV will look like, unlike the first video. The visible aspects include the trademark mesh grille, a quartet of circular headlights, and “the Flying B” side vents that all look similar to smaller Bentleys. Drawing inspiration from the Continental range and the EXP 9F concept, the Falcon will get roof rails, a sloping rear window, a sculpted rear tailgate, and wide rear haunches that give the SUV a muscular look.
On the inside, though, you will see the characteristic Bentley, the luxury at its best. The upholstery will be of the finest quality, having hand-stitched leather and trimmed with hand polished wood and other equally exquisite materials. The technology will be of the best order with all the latest gizmos and seating can be a 2+2 arrangement.
Under the hood, the Falcon SUV is expected to get the same engine lineup with the Continental series: a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine and a 6.0-liter W12 engine. Bentley is also planning a hybrid engine in 2017 and that can also make the way under the hood of the Falcon. The SUV will be based on the Volkwagen’s larger MLB-Evo platform, that will also do the duty on the other members of the family including Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
Expected price could be upwards of Rs 2 crore in India.
While Bentley is still in process, Range Rover unveiled their most luxurious SUV ever!
