It’s highly unlikely that any of those who will buy the Bentley Bentayga will actually take it off-road, but that doesn’t mean the luxury British marque shouldn’t show us what their first ever SUV is capable of doing on bumpy roads. The attached footage was recorded in a mountainous area and we can see the vehicle going up a steep dirt road without any effort whatsoever.
Aside from being able to tackle the off-road, Bentley’s Bentayga will be a proper quick SUV as they say it will be the most powerful and fastest model in its segment, with one of the engines on offer being a W12 twin-turbo 6.0-liter pushing out no less than 608 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. It could turn out to be the company’s first model ever to employ a turbodiesel engine and we know for sure that in 2017 it will also spawn a more frugal plug-in hybrid derivative.
In terms of design, the prototype showed here still wears camouflage and it might not have all the production bits and pieces, so we will reserve our judgment until the model’s official reveal set for mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. As for the interior, it will be as luxurious as you would expect from anything with a Bentley badge and word on the street says there will individual rear seats for the ultimate comfort.
Overall, the highly anticipated Bentley Bentayga will be a versatile product that will suit all tastes and preferences as it will be fast, powerful, luxurious and with true off-road abilities in case somebody will decide to leave the tarmac to explore unpaved terrains in a very expensive SUV.
It’s bound to go on sale in Europe towards the end of the year while in India it will likely be launched in the second half of next year.
