Earlier, the film makers used exotic and high performance cars for a video sequence either for a stunt or TVC, which is quite an expensive deal. But now the world will see the future, meet the Blackbird by Mill, is a studio that has shot TVCs for many global OEMs like BMW, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Honda, Dodge, Qoros, etc. And with the Blackbird, Mill has made it possible to shoot automotive content without any need of a specific vehicle. This rig has been developed by The Mill in association with JemFX, Performance Filmworks, and Keslow.
It was hand built in the same hangar where the legendary Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird supersonic aircraft was built. Thereby it shares the name 'Blackbird'.
The Blackbird is the world's first fully adjustable car rig that not only alter its chassis to match the precise length (with just a push of a button it can adjust its length by 4 ft), and also width of almost any car. By Using CGI, the car rig can wear a look of any car, and its electric motor can be programmed to emulate the driving characteristics of the respective vehicle, too. Just to add to your knowledge, the Blackbird can help users build a virtual version of its surrounding by using a combination of 3D laser scanning and high-dynamic range imagery. For those that aren't as imaginative, The Mill has created a unique AR application that allows individuals to see the intended CGI vehicle on top of the rig.
