The biggest unveil for Ducati at 2015 EICMA was definitely the XDiavel, the iconic Italian superbike makers first ever belt drive cruiser which has been designed to entice and posses the authentic cruiser market of essentially Ducati's biggest market, North America. An extension to the stunning Diavel line, and a more laid back version of the madness that Diavel excels in, the XDiavel, though is a stunning piece of Italian sexiness in the belt driven cruiser segment, but is still a cruiser and we haven't bee a big fan of that segment here traditionally.
However, at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, a city in Northern Italy alongwith a bevy of concepts including three concepts based on the Scrambler Sixty2, Ducati presented, what it called as the 'draXter concept'. Based on the XDiavel, the 'draXter concept is a Drag racing inspired take on the Ducati's belt driven cruiser and it is worth mentioning just for the sheer beauty that the concept turned out to be. And to make the draXter concept suit its 'sporty' intent, a number of modifications were made on the XDiavel to make the concept ready to fly of the drag race line.
Conceptualized and designed by Ducati Design Centre's Advanced Design area, which has the honours of being permitted by Ducati to explore future style and design concepts for the Italian brand, the draXter is definitely sportier than the XDiavel with the presence of suspension setup and brakes from the Ducati 1299 Panigale. Add to that the hardcore Ducati dry-clutch conversion and Termignoni exhaust are also making their entry on the draXter concept.
To celebrate Ducati's 90th anniversary, a big yellow '90' decal find its place on the fairings, marking 2016 as the year where 90 years ago, Ducati started making Radio's. However, motorized two wheeler manufacturing came much later after the end of WWII.
