The Blue Oval company took the automotive world by storm at the beginning of the year when they unveiled the Ford GT concept serving as a sneak preview for the production model due late next year. The concept has now evolved into a prototype and one of the cars was brought last weekend in Spain at the Jarama track for this year’s edition of the 24 Hours Ford. In addition, the prototype was also there to show off it’s the featured car of the upcoming Forza Motorsport 6 video game.
It didn’t go as planned as the Ford employee had some serious troubles starting up the car due to an unknown technical glitch. Eventually, the prototype started and it was immediately loaded up in the transport truck, but not before the gathered audience grabbed images and videos with the problematic Ford GT.
This shouldn’t have a negative impact on the car’s image as after all we are dealing with a prototype and these usually have issues when testing. We are certain Ford’s engineers will iron out all of the problems and the 2017 GT production version will be a masterpiece as its predecessors.
It has to live up to some huge expectations as the old models were epic and Ford wants to carry on the legend with a very aerodynamic and aggressive body wrapping around a newly developed V6 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine which will unleash in excess of 600 bhp. It won’t come cheap that’s for sure, as Ford’s representative have previously stated it will cost around $400,000 (25.4 million INR) and only 250 cars will be assembled each year.
If you are still not impressed, Ford promises the 2017 GT will have one of the best power-to-weight ratios ever seen in a production car and its 7-speed dual-clutch transmission aims to deliver near-instantaneous gear changes so the performances should be pretty amazing.
