Hyundai India was kind enough to share with us a video about the rather stunning N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept. Although it will never enter production, the hardcore racecar was designed to preview the potential of the company’s N division and also to showcase the expertise as far as hydrogen fuel cars is concerned. Interestingly, Albert Biermann who is the head of performance development hinted something similar could actually be produced as speaking recently to Top Gear magazine he said their future lineup will encompass “performance-oriented and race track-capable cars that will be full of energy.”
We know that doesn’t necessarily mean the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept will morph into a production car, but from this statement we can deduct Hyundai has plans to roll out alternatively-powered high-performance cars that will likely utilize a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain.
Getting back to the radical concept at hand, it’s an 817 bhp monster that weighs only 972 kg, so the level of performance offered should be breathtaking given the impressive power to weight ratio. The sound generated by the powertrain must be truly impressive taking into account the air blower’s turbine spins at a whopping 200,000 rpm.
We remind you the concept was developed for the PlayStation 3 video game Gran Turismo 6, but Hyundai actually built a full scale unit which was displayed last month at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
It should be mentioned the first fully-fledged product coming from the N performance division will be out sometime in 2017 and chances are it will be based on the yet unreleased third generation i30 hatchback. Latest reports are indicating it will adopt an all-wheel drive layout and come with an engine capable of developing a massive 300 bhp.
Hyundai already has an N-tuned model as the South Korean automaker recently introduced the i20 N Sport with 115 bhp, a slightly more aggressive body as well as several other hardware tweaks.
