Audi is all ready to launch the second generation Q7 SUV at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show in January. While they released fulls et of images prior to launch, Audi now has released a teaser video revealing exteriors and interiors. The new Audi Q7 is expected to go on sale from mid 2015 in the North America and Europe, and then eventually making it to India by beginning of 2016 or end of 2015.
The next generation Q7 is based on the new MLB platform, which helps Q7 shed around 325 kg, making is lighter than the previous model, which by any standard, is a huge progress for an SUV. The result of weight loss is a more efficient model, with the petrol versions claiming at least 28 percent more efficient while diesel’s efficiency is also up by 23 per cent and shall improve its driving dynamics.
While not much has been disclosed about the engine options, few of them are revealed. The engine option starts with a 3.0 litre diesel unit producing 215 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The range-topping model will be a plug-in hybrid version that makes 368 hp and 700 Nm of torque. In terms of dimensions, it’s 5.05 meters long, 1.97 meters wide, and 1.74 meters tall.
The mechanical functions will include a standard Quattro all-wheel drive system along with a new 3D audio system, which Audi teased about recently. Also, the MMI infotainment system will get a Google Android Auto connectivity to phones.
The SUV will be assembled at the Audi's Aurangabad facility in India and the price can be expected upwards of Rs 75 lakh for the base version.
