Ford Motor Company has started teasing the all-new Endeavour SUV as it is all set to make its global début on November 13 in China. The company has revealed an image and a video which showcases the next generation Endeavour SUV in action. The Everest aka Endeavour SUV is based on the Everest concept which was unveiled last year in Sydney. The 2015 Ford Endeavour would also make its way in India by the third quarter of next year, replacing the ongoing model.
The teaser image gives a glimpse of the front grille and headlamps of new Endeavour. The headlamps as well as the grille look pretty identical to the concept which was again showcased at the Bangkok Motor Show, earlier this year. However, the concept too was appearing quite production ready. 2015 Ford Endeavour is based on an all-new Ranger’s ladder-frame chassis and it will feature a coil-spring rear suspension instead of the leaf spring setup, which is present in the current models. The interior cabin is said to be based on the company's F-150 pickup truck. In India, similar to the ongoing model, next gen Endeavour would be locally manufactured at Ford's Chennai facility from Thai-made kits.
As for the engine and transmission, the new Endeavour SUV would be powered by two powertrains in international arenas - 2.2L, 4-cylinder diesel and a 3.2L, 5-cylinder diesel engines. However, in India, both the aforementioned power units would go for a toss in favour of the existing 2.5L and 3.0L diesel motors. Currently, the SUV comes with 5-speed manual and auto transmission in the country, but with the next generation model, the company would introduce 6-speed manual and auto gearbox to maximize fuel economy and performance.
The new SUV, reportedly, would come in a price range of Rs. 20-25 Lakhs, while challenging the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V, Isuzu MU-7, Ssangyong Rexton, and Toyota Fortuner.
