BMW, the German luxury automaker, has announced that it would unveil the all-new 2016 7-Series on June 10, 2015. Being the flagship product of the company, the new-generation BMW 7-Series would flaunt an evolutionary design. The company has started teasing the saloon on its social media platforms ahead of its world premiere by releasing a video and one image of the car's interior.
The front fascia of the 2016 BMW 7-Series would flaunt a new front grille with laser headlamps. There is chrome garnish on side skirts and windows as well to accentuate the oomph. Coming to the rear end, there are slender tail-lamps with chrome finishing. Just so you know, the new 7-Series is around 130 kgs. lighter than the preceding model. This reduction is weight is due to the carbon-reinforced plastic body structure, which BMW labels as “Carbon Core”. The lighter weight will contribute in better ride quality and handling of the saloon. Inside the cabin, there would be an iDrive Touch Display infotainment system with gesture control technology.
Earlier, it was believed that the new BMW 7-Series would debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. But, this plan was scrapped in favour of a early unveiling as several details about the car were leaked online when BMW held a private preview of the car for its limited premium customers in April. It would also be launched in India by the second half of 2016. In the teaser video, the 750 Li variant is shown which would, reportedly, have a 4.4L V8 petrol engine. It would be assembled at BMW's Chennai plant upon its launch, like the current-generation 7-Series. The saloon would be rivalled by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8L.
