Only recently we reported that Honda has declared that the True Adventure concept it showcased back in November at EICMA 2014 will indeed be launched in its production avatar in the year 2016 and it will officially be named Honda CRF1000L and it was a delight when the mighty Honda called this upcoming adventure tourer as the Africa Twin, thereby ending an eternal wait for the road version of the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally iconic Honda's from 1989-2003.
In the video below, which looks like a leaked video new Africa Twin undergoing testing as it shows the adventure-touring bike going through its paces. From the very few tid bits we can actually see of the bike in the video we see from the video, the Honda Africa Twin stays true to the True Adventure Concept Prototype that Honda unveiled at EICMA. Designated as the Honda CRF1000L, the Africa Twin is shaping up to be a very interesting motorcycle from mighty Japanese manufacturer.
The 1,000cc parallel-twin engine doesn't really set the sparks fly in terms of sheer enthusiasm in these times, but Honda has mated it to an optional dual-clutch transmission, which might be a master-stroke from the Japanese company. In all probability the Africa Twin will be billed as a true off-roader, which is a departure from the rather more tarmac friendly approach of manufacturers globally. Pricing will be key, of course, but judging from the sheer excitement from the motorcycling fraternity world over, Honda already has a winner with the Africa Twin.
