A new video emerged online in which the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been spied testing on the streets of Delhi, ahead of its launch that has been reportedly scheduled in the month of November. Maruti Suzuki announced the Ignis for the Indian market at the 2016 Auto Expo and with this the homegrown car manufacturer, will enter in the a new segment. And with this entry, the car will pound on the likes of Mahindra KUV100.
Dimensionally, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis measures 3,700 mm in overall length with a wheelbase of 2,435 mm, 1,690 mm in width, stands 1,595 mm in tall along with a ground clearance of 180 mm in ground clearance. The car is currently on sale in the Japanese market and is also offered with a 4WD system as optional. And with shark fin cuts on the C-pillar and sunglass clad look, compliments the model quite well. The car will come sit on a 15 or 16 inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the car will come loaded with LED daytime running lights, touchscreen entertainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, digital MID, reverse parking, steering mounted controls, and automatic climate control.
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will most likely get a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit along with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol power unit used in the Swift is capable to produce 83 bhp of power with 115 Nm of peak torque while the diesel mill is good to make 74 bhp and a peak torque of 190 Nm. But in the case of the crossover, it may vary and should also return a fuel efficiency ranging between 18 to 23 kmpl.
Once launched in the country, it will be sold through the company’s premium retail channel NEXA that is currently selling S-Cross and Baleno.
