The Daimler-owned marque hasn’t even showed us the C-Class Coupe yet, but they are already playing the teasing game with the high performance AMG version which is expected to be shown alongside the regular version in mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The coupe will be more than just a C-Class Sedan without the rear doors as the designers at Mercedes-Benz have also made the roofline more sloped towards the rear and they also installed some S-Class Coupe-like taillights along with a more prominent trunk lid spoiler.
As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it will closely mirror the Mercedes-AMG C63 Sedan, but with different front seats and probably some other minor tweaks to differentiate it from its four-door sibling. One more thing that will separate the two cars will be the size of the front tires as the sedan has 245/35 R19 whereas the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe will ride on 255/35 ZR19 rubbers. Aside from the already mentioned body changes, the coupe will also have more bulging wheel arches and is likely getting a stiffer and sportier suspension which will probably command a reduced ride height.
We are not expecting any changes underneath the hood where the high-performance coupe will get the AMG twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine which will be offered in two different states of tune: one with 469 bhp and 648 Nm and the range-topping S version with 503 bhp and 698 Nm. Both versions will come exclusively with a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox enabling stellar performances that should closely mirror the sedan, if not even surpass it.
Chances are Mercedes-AMG will show us online the C63 Coupe in the weeks to come before bringing it to Frankfurt. Sales in Europe are going to start before the end of the year while details regarding availability in India are not available at this point, but we won’t be surprised if it will arrive in local dealerships sometime in 2016.
