The Porsche 911 has been an iconic car in many aspects for over half a century now. While many manufacturers attempted to re-create the magic of the world's first Supercar, none could come closer to what Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is claiming. We recently posted the Superbowl promo for the AMG GT and they are back with a new teaser poking fun at the rivals from Stuttgart, Porsche.
While the Porsche 911 may be intentionally hidden from direct viewing, aficionados can judge by looking at the alloys and the rear view. The teaser comes with a tagline saying "The car you dreamed of as a child has just been overtaken" and showcases a child is dreaming about his dream car - a Porsche 911. All of a sudden, a Mercedes-AMG GT appears in the rearview mirror and eventually passes the Porsche and the child wakes up, justifying the tagline.
The Mercedes-AMG GT is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0 litre V8 engine that produces 462 ps and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 304 kmph. The more powerful AMG GT S comes with a twin-turbo 4.0 litre V8 engine that develops 510 ps and 650 Nm of torque. It enables the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds before topping out at an electronically-limited 310 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz will launch the AMG GT in the first half of 2015 replacing the famous SLS AMG Gullwing.
