Honda Cars India is all set to launch the new Jazz hatchback next month in June in the country. The company has started teasing the hatchback and has released a video which showcases a Jazz in orange paint with chrome grille. The Japanese automaker has also released a teaser image on its social media channels which reads as, " All New Honda - Coming Soon".
All-new Honda Jazz would be assembled locally at Honda's Tapukara, Rajasthan production facility. The previous generation Jazz was quite high in price due to the import of several parts and components. But with the 2015 Honda Jazz, the company intends to keep the pricing aggressive by a localization of 90 percent. Underpinning the Honda City platform and sharing several parts with the mid-sized sedan, the Jazz would lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Tata Bolt, and Fiat Punto EVO in the Indian market. Also, the company has plans to launch the new hatch in both petrol and diesel avatars. Just so you know, India would be the first country to have a diesel engine powered Jazz hatchback.
2015 Honda Jazz petrol variants would be powered by a 1.2L iVTEC motor to enjoy the small car excise duty benefits. For those asking, Jazz hatchback is available with either 1.3L or 1.5L petrol mill in several international markets. The 1.2L petrol motor would be paired with both manual as well as automatic transmissions. Apparently, the automatic gearbox used in the Jazz would be the CVT gearbox. As for the diesel variants, they would in-house the 1.5L iDTEC motor, which is already on offer with Amaze, City and Mobilio. It has a maximum power output of 100PS and peak torque performance of 200Nm, while delivering leading fuel economy. Hence, the Jazz is expected to offer impeccable fuel economy in its segment as the other Honda cars. New Honda Jazz is expected to be priced in a domain of Rs. 5-7 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
