Video - Possible Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate Black Series spied

Snapshot: This could possibly be the first sight of a flagship Mercedes C63 Black Series.

Spotted in the more practical Estate body style, this partially camouflaged prototype was seen undergoing testing on public roads and we have reasons to believe it’s a more hardcore version of the C63. If you look closely, the car has a slightly lower ride height and comes with significantly wider tires while the bulging wheel arches are a lot more prominent than those on the regular C63.

This spy video comes somewhat as a surprise since right now Mercedes-AMG is focusing on the C63 Coupe which will be unveiled later this month. If this is indeed a Black Series version, chances are it will be available across all body styles of the C-Class W2015 family so at first it will be seen on the sedan and estate, followed shortly by the coupe and later on by the convertible.

All these cars will obviously employ the same twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine but in the Black Series specification will use an uprated version which will develop more than the 510 bhp and 700 Nm available in the C63 S. Since the wagon version in fully-fledged AMG guise runs the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds, don’t be too surprised if the Black Series edition will complete the task in 4 seconds or even go below the four-second mark.

If Mercedes-AMG is actually working on a Black Series C63, chances are it will be launched in the second half of next year and will obviously command a serious premium over the regular C63. This is understandable since aside from the more aggressive body and power hike, the more hardcore version will also get beefier brakes, larger bespoke wheels, retuned chassis and most likely a series of other mechanical changes while the interior cabin will also go through some changes to denote the model’s exclusivity.
