Ever heard Rinspeed motors? Well, Rinspeed could very well be the most intelligent automobile manufacturer of our times. And of all the cars shown at the Geneva Motoshow, Rinspeed's cars always stand out being most advanced and forward-thinking. And this year's Geneva show is no different as Frank Rinderknecht and company is ready with what they call 'Budii'.
Rinspeed has revealed a video for the Budii concept ahead of its global debut and it is magnanimous to say the least. The Budii incorporates a camera and laser scanner on the top of the car that maps the terrain and the road ahead. A drive-by-wire steering system controls the movements and also allows the steering wheel to be passed between driver and passenger.
But this is not all of it! A state-of-art infotainment system helps you be in touch with the world through an easy user interface. The car rides on a lowered suspension with 19-inch Borbet alloys, with a rainbow Knight Rider-style grille in the nose. While Rinspeed builds the vehicles from scratch, they tend to be based on production models.
While the XchangE from last year was based on Tesla, Dock+Go from 2012 was Smart based, E2 from 2009 Fiat-based and sQuba from 2007 Lotus-based. Following the history, the new Budii concept is based on the BMW i3. This fully automated electric powered car is focused more on driver-car interaction.
