Ssangyong has started teasing its all-new Tivoli crossover as its much anticipated launch is approaching rapidly. Being codenamed as X100, it would have a world premiere next month in Korea. The company has released a teaser video which showcases the side profile of the crossover SUV. Mahindra-owned Ssangyong currently has no plans to launch the Tivoli crossover in the Indian sub-continent.
The Tivoli crossover derives its name from an Italian town. The two concept cars previewing its design philosophy were displayed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in the October. They were XIV Air and XIV Adventure, and the latter is said to be the primary component of Tivoli's designing. The crossover would be powered by a set of 1.6L petrol and diesel engines. The aforesaid engines are said to be developed by Ssangyong in co-operation with parent company Mahindra. Currently, Mahindra Ssangyong sells only one vehicle in India, which is the Rexton SUV.
The Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli crossover SUV would be at loggerheads with the Hyundai ix25, Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, and Honda Vezel in the several international markets. Although, the price is unconfirmed yet, but it is expected that it would cost at least 15,000 GBP (Around Rs 15 lakh). It would be unveiled in January 2015 in Korea, followed by its launch in several other markets.
