Everything that Elong Musk des, converts to gold, or simply put, the maverick CEO of Tesla Motors, and other revolutionary brands has a Midas touch. Or are we exaggerating ourselves? Wait till you read the specs and prices of the all-new Model 3 below to understand how well crafted and engineered this car is, and how it has a potential to change the world.

Now that we have expressed our gratification for Musk, it’s time to give you the regular news. Tesla Motors has finally delivered the first batch of 30 Model 3 EVs, in an event held today (Indian Time) at the Tesla’s plant at Fremont, California, U.S. The event also saw a set of new details, prices and specs that were given out by Elon Musk himself.

The big news, though, is that the Model 3 will be available in two variants and will be priced for $35,000, with an all-electric mileage of 220 miles, an acceleration of 0-60 miles per hour in 5.6 seconds, and a top speed of 130 mph. The top end Long Range Model 3 is priced for $44,000, almost $10000 expensive than the Standard model and offers 310 miles (500 kms) per charge. It's faster with 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds, and 140-mph top speed.

“Model 3 is a smaller, simpler and a more affordable electric car. Designed and built as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, it is a critical step in Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy,” said Musk. “Like every Tesla vehicle, Model 3 combines range, performance, safety and technology.”

Model 3 is designed to achieve the highest safety ratings in every category,” he added. “Combined with 220 to 310 miles of range and a starting price of $35,000 before incentives, Model 3 is Tesla’s most affordable vehicle yet.” Musk says that Tesla has made 50 Model 3s this month, 30 for customers and 20 for validation.

The first Model 3 is rightfully earned by Elon Musk himself and the customers ordering now will get their Model 3s at the end of next year. Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson – who got the first Model S and second Model X, gets the fifth Model 3. Tesla Model 3 is a part of the Part 3 of Musk’s action plan to provide affordable EVs through money earned by selling expensive EVs.

The design of the Model 3 is rather unconventional with no front grille (both Model S and Model X comes with one). It’s also shorter in length. The cabin of the Model 3 is simple, uncluttered and Musk noted that you won't need to look at an instrument panel when cars are autonomous. Model 3 comes only with a large tab on the console and offer the hardware to allow for full autonomy.

But what excites us a safety video played by Musk that compares the Tesla Model 3 with the Volvo S60 and shows that the Model 3 is safer than a Volvo S60 (at least in a side crash test), "one of the safest cars in the world," he said. And then he called Volvo the "second safest car in the world," playing up the safety of the Model 3. That’s quite surprising considering Volvo’s are safer than any other car on the road.

Talking about the waiting period, Musk agrees that people are not happy with the speed right now and said - "Welcome to production hell," about the next six months of building the Model 3. Tesla is planning for 10,000 cars per week by the end of next year. As for charging, Tesla promises to triple the number of Superchargers by the end of next year. "Eventually you'll be able to go anywhere on Earth" and use a Supercharger.

Musk also noted that when the Gigafactory is done, it'll produce more lithium-ion batteries than the rest of the world combined. As for India, we are still not sure of the companies future in the country. But we just can’t wait to get our hands on a Model 3. Neither can you!
