A couple of days ago we reported about the teaser of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept about to be revealed at the Monterey Car Week, Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The same has been unveiled and shows the clear inspiration taken from the streamlined exterior designs of the pre war Bugattis and Talbot Lagos of 1930s.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept's classic look is a perfect fit among the many classic vehicles showcased during the Monterey Car Week at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The coupe inspired sporty Maybach is a clear indication about the companies take on the future vehicles, which will exude both luxury with sportiness and is closely related to the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT.
Talking about the looks first, the Vision 6 concept looks best from the side profile, where the flowing lines and the gorgeous curves gels well in the coupe's immense size. The coupe design is complemented well by Chrome strips running along the body and the gullwing doors are the reminiscences of the Mercedes’ glorious past.
The front profile has a massive chrome grille with vertical slats and narrow line of LEDs flanked on both the sides. The designers of the Vision 6 concept had beautifully sculpted the tail at the rear into a sophisticated curve. There are also two split windows with a small fin between them, making the rear end a sight to behold. While the Vision 6 looks gigantic and imposing, we would love to see it in a more darker color, other the red one on the concept.
The designers of the Vision 6 concept took inspiration from the Exelero concept of 2004 and has similar proportions. Standing at 5.6 metres long, the car is about an inch longer than the Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe. The Maybach concept appears even bigger because of the low height of just 52.3 inches, at least 10 inches shorter than the Phantom Coupe standing tall at 62.9 inches. While the earlier concept was much sharper, the new concept is more curvaceous.
As much as the exterior of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept is inspired from the vehicles of the past, the cabin of the Maybach takes inspiration from something more futuristic. Technically speaking, the Vision 6 concept is a 2+2 seater, but its the occupants in the front seats that will enjoy the best of the technology. The driver and the co-passenger, sit deeply in well sculpted seats and have the view of outside through an augmented reality windshield. The material quality, as expected, are top class and includes rose gold trim and elm floors.
About the powertrain, the Maybach’s Vision 6 is as futuristic as it can get. It is powered by four electric motors with a total output of 738 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive system could push the car from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than four seconds. The 80 kilowatt-hour battery is equipped for an all-electric range of 322 kilometres in the Environmental Protection Agency’s test or over 500 km with the New European Driving Cycle evaluation.
