British stuntman Damien Walters is no ordinary man and loves to live on the edge. Walters, a Parkour and gymnastics specialist is widely recognized among the Hollywood circuit to perform stunts in big movies like Captain America, Avenger, Skyfall and 47 Ronin. His latest stunt though, is a different league altogether and relates to our automotive industry, that's why we are featuring him on Autoportal!
In a recently released video, Damien Walter can be seen doing a daredevil act of backfliping over a Formula E race car doing speed of 100 kmph. Performed at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, the stunt was made tougher and almost impossible as Walters decided not to face the car but put his back towards the moving car.
The stunt required multiple practices, careful measurements, technology like timing beams and "his own senses", as the video claims. Produced in partnership with the FIA Formula E, the video was shot multiple times and from multiple angles, confirming that Damien completed the stunt multiples times and it was not a single attempt to fame.
As for the Formula E, the FIA approved all-electric version of the Formula 1 racing series started a couple of years and is still running good. All they need is a bit of publicity and this video will surely help them in their cause.
