While we all say to our loved ones “Drive Safe” or “Be safe” etc. just before leaving our homes. How many of us are actually cautious while driving? This might only come across as an imperative question that does not deserve an answer or any thought, because most of us have been lucky enough or have not been in the same situation as the hapless driver in the video below, and perhaps that prevents us from thinking really hard.

The video embedded below serves as a reminder as to why we should actually be very careful while changing lanes on highway or any road for that matter. The NCAP crash rating of a car does provide a measure of the car’s safety. But, nothing compares to the sense of safety that comes from the car that’s in hands of a cautious driver.

What goes without saying is that one should observe that there’s always enough distance between the vehicle that you are following or that is following you. And this distance should be in proportion to the speeds at which the vehicles are travelling. This ensures that you always have enough reaction time in case of an adverse condition.

Besides other rules learnt at the driving school, the good old motto “Lane Driving is Sane Driving” that Delhi Traffic Police uses to educate drivers is something perhaps that one must always remember while driving.

Here’s the spine-chilling video of the unfortunate accident that nearly killed the driver, while she was overtaking.
