While we are still waiting for the R25 or the R3 to be introduced to us, Yamaha has already launched their brand new street fighter the mighty MT-25 to the Indonesian market. The MT-25 draws its inspiration from the MT series and is a part of NakedVolution strategy of the Japanese motorcycle giant. The MT-25 was launched by Yamaha in a Biker Street Night party held in Indonesia. MT-25 is the fourth offering by Yamaha to join the league of other MT series bikes such as MT-09, MT-07, and MT-125. The mighty MT-25 has been introduced with a tagline “It’s the Lord of the Way”. MT-25 will be produced and exported from the Indonesian market itself to the several other international markets.
Both of the R-25 and MT-25 are based on the same engine platform. The engine is a 249cc, parallel twin, 8-valve, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 36ps of Power @ 12,000 rpm and 22.6Nm of torque @ 10,000 rpm. The wet weight of the motorcycle is around 165kgs and it comes equipped with a 14 litres of the fuel tank. The rubber at the front is a 110/70-17M/C (54S) and 140/70-17M/C (66S) rubber supports the rear of the MT-25. The dashboard fitted on the MT-25 is capable of displaying all the necessary information like average fuel economy, engine warning light, gear shift indicator, temperature meter and much more. Both of the R-23 and MT-25 shares the same instrument cluster as well. Yamaha has launched the MT-25 at a price of 46 Million Indonesian Rupiah that is equals to INR 2.2 Lakhs in India.
