The world is moving fast, very fast! And what is pushing the world to move fast is the rapidly evolving technology. Speaking in terms of automobiles, we are in a time when everything is becoming automated and user friendly. To take forward the era of technology, Audi is ready with their Virtual Reality experience for dealerships, called 'dealership in a briefcase'.
Ever heard of a technology called Oculus Rift? Well the Audi's VR Experience is largely based on the same phenomenon. The VR system comes with a eyewear that can be worn by the potential customers. The goggles come with headphones, to complement the experience and enhance the whole experience of buying a car.
Working in the line of a simulator, a potential buyer can sit behind the wheel of the car or even open the boot. An integrated camera tracks the head movements of the buyers and adjusts the image on the goggles accordingly and the headphones let them hear the sound of the door or listen to the radio. VR also lets the buyer choose the right color and trim, even if the dealer doesn't have that specific combo in stock.
The German automaker claims to launch the VR Experience by 2015 in dynamic growth markets and if it's good as Audi claims, the dealership experience and the possibilities will increase manifold. Moving ahead is a step-by-step process and the initiative from Audi will surely lead the world to a better path.
