Skoda Vision X SUV concept has grabbed everyone’s attention at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and the car previews the Czech auto manufacturer’s futuristic and environment-friendly CNG-Hybrid Electric powertrain. This concept SUV is based on Volkswagen’s well-appreciated MQB platform and upon launch of the production model derived from this concept, the car will be positioned below the Skoda Karoq.

Skoda Vision X SUV concept previews the Czech auto manufacturer’s third SUV after Kodiaq and Karoq. It is evident that the SUV will come sporting sharp and crisp look, just like the Skoda Karoq and Kodiaq. It gets Skoda’s signature butterfly pattern front grille with vertical slats and plenty of chrome garnishing. The headlamps come very sleek looking and sporting projector lamps. LED daytime running lights are positioned above the headlamps. The front bumper too looks carrying the same design theme as its bigger siblings and there is a chunky skid plate as well.

The SUV runs on sporty and large alloy wheels, sculpted look at the side profile thanks to the deep character lines, a floating roof theme with blackened glass area. At the back, it gets a sculpted tailgate, sleek LED taillights and a muscular bumper. So far, the concept SUV carries Skoda’s sharp styling language.

Inside the cabin too, it will take design inspiration from the bigger siblings like Kodiaq and Karoq. The powertrain of this car includes a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine running on CNG. This engine is coupled with twin electric motors, each powering one axle. The CNG powered engine churns out 125 bhp of peak power and 249 Nm of peak torque, while the second electric motor fitted to the rear axle can generate 25 bhp of power output. Also, this SUV will be able to run in the full electric mode for 2 kilometres.

Skoda says that Vision X concept derived SUV will be able to accelerate 0-100 kmph in 9.3 seconds with a top speed 200 kmph. This car will come with a front-wheel drive as standard; while there will be a four-wheel drive system on offer as well. Interestingly, there will be a reserve petrol tank as well.
