Contrary to an AutoCar India report, which stated that Volkswagen would offer the Ameo in petrol guise only in starting, the company has cleared the air by announcing the arrival of both petrol and diesel variants. The Ameo sedann would come equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard fitment across variants. The Ameo will also be equipped with a few first in segment features like cruise control and rain sensing wipers along with static cornering lights.
The mult-city roadshow would cover several cities such as Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin, and Mumbai. "We are very excited to take the Ameo to our customers across India, and look forward to strengthening our ties with prospective and current buyers in these markets,” added Mayer. Volkswagen Ameo would be the company's new entry-level sedan, while it would be challenging the likes of Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest, and Ford Figo Aspire in the Indian market.
