- The first round of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup One-Make Series Championship 2019 shall take place on 22nd and 23rd June at Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway.
Volkswagen India’s Motorsport wing organized a pre-season fitness camp on May 18-19 for all the selected race drivers of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup One-Make Series Championship 2019. The Round One of the series will be held in June 2019 at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The fitness camp was held to check and evaluate the level of fitness of the racers and to mentor, guide and prepare them in order to achieve the health and fitness levels required for racing on the track. The event spanning two days saw the drivers learning multiple lessons on diet, nutrition and posture correction. The preparatory training classes were modulated to improve the performance of drivers with prehab and rehab training.
The first day began with fitness coaches Brent Wood Townend and Stuart Dolman’s mentoring sessions. They carried out basic conditioning and biomechanics tests of the drivers with Body Composition Analysis. Post these tests, the racers got a demo on the basics of Calisthenics form of workout to help them attain fitness as well as ease of movement for the season.
On the second day, interactive sessions with Prehab 21 took place in terms of posture correction techniques and rehab training. Prehab taught the race drivers how to prevent injuries and keep their core, neck, and wrists safe. After prehab, a yoga session and a Technique and Form Correction session was conducted by an IFBB Pro Gold Medalist and Power Lifter Tejaswini Pandit.
