Volkswagen has made a habit of radicalizing the Indian auto sports scenario with various of its auto sports events. It started with the Polo cup, then it moved to the Vento cup and after 2 years of continuation with Vento cup, Volkswagen has replaced it with the Ameo cup.
The Ameo cup would start from the 2017 season with cars powered by 1.8 liter TSI engines. The engines might come from the existing Skoda Superb or from the upcoming Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The transmission option is still under planning and the cars might use five speed manual transmission, DSG transmission or even they can use a racing spec transmission.
The German car maker Volkswagen has recently launched its compact sedan the Ameo in the Indian market to compete against the popular Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Indigo CS. The Volkswagen Ameo is essentially an extended version of the existing VW Polo. The compact sedan is powered by number of engine options which include 1.2 liter petrol engine, and 1.5 liter diesel engine. They produce 74bhp of power, 110nm of torque and 103bhp and 250nm of torque respectively. The engines are further connected with two transmission options, one is 5 speed manual and the other is a 7 speed auto transmission.
