Volkswagen’s Ameo, which is based on its leading hatchback Polo, has already started picking up sales after its launch this year. The German automaker had previously launched the petrol variant of the car and will now be launching its diesel counterpart on September 27th to mark the festive season.
The Ameo is sub-4 metre, safe, practical and feature loaded sedan that competes with cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and the Honda Amaze. The diesel variant will help the car give a tougher competition to these popular automobiles, hence strengthening Volkswagen’s sales.
The diesel variant of the Ameo will have the same four-cylinder turbocharged, 1.5-litre engine owned by the Polo and the Vento and should churn a bhp of 108 and produce a torque of 230Nm. It will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, along with the option of a 7-speed automatic gearbox as per your needs.
The specs loaded in the diesel variant of the Ameo will be quite similar to the Petrol-variant. It will get dual airbags and ABS along with segment-first features like cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, anti-pinch power windows, centre armrest and static cornering light.
A rear-view camera with parking sensors, cooled glove box, LED turn indicators, touchscreen multimedia music system, auto-dimming inside rear view mirror (IRVM), climatronic automatic AC and many others will also adorn the diesel Ameo.
The car will be available in six colour options - Reflex Silver, Candy White, Blue Silk, Carbon Steel and Toffee Brown. The diesel Ameo, like its petrol version will also come in three trim levels – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.
Pricing of the Petrol variant starts from Rs. 5.3lakh for the base model and goes as high as Rs. 7.1lakh. The base diesel variant is expected to start from Rs. 6.5lakh and will go all the way up to Rs. 8.5lakh.
