Volkswagen Group delivered 2.40 million vehicles in first quarter of 2014

Snapshot: Volkswagen Group delivered 2.40 million vehicles globally in January to March 2014 period, record a growth of 5.8 per cent

World's largest auto major, Volkswagen Group, has delivered a total of 2.40 million vehicles worldwide in first quarter of calendar year 2014; grown by 5.8 per cent as per year on year basis. Interestingly, China being the company's largest single market for the period where more than 30 per cent of the total global sales came from. VW Group delivered 8,80,700 cars under its different brands in the Chinese market.

Volkswagen Group brands delivered 958,600 vehicles on the overall European market in the first quarter, of which 516,600 were handed over to customers in Western Europe (excluding Germany). In the home market of Germany, 282,800 customers chose a new car from the Volkswagen Group, while deliveries in the Central and Eastern Europe region were equal to 159,200 vehicles and 65,900 units in Russia.

The German giant delivered 197,300 vehicles in the North America region in the same period, of which 133,500 vehicles reached to the United States. In the South America region, the Volkswagen Group delivered 168,600 units to customers during the same period, of which 127,700 vehicles were delivered in Brazil. In contrast, the VW Group sales declined to 18,100 units, down by 30.4 per cent.

Majorly, Skoda and Audi registered a considerable growth in their total sales among other brands of the Volkswagen Group in the period. While, Audi sales inclined by 11.7 per cent, Skoda deliveries increased by 12.1 per cent globally.
